Talonflame has a handful of decent move choices. Why it’s overall stats bring it down slightly, you can make a useful moveset that could make it a standout option in the future. For its fast move, you want to consider using fire spin over steel wing. Fire spin offers up more damage and energy, giving you more options for what charge moves you want to use later in the battle.

For Talonflame’s charge moves, you want to use brave bird and flame charge. You never want to use fire blast if you can ever avoid it. The move requires too much energy, despite how much damage it can, but given how quickly another trainer can block it, you’re better off not using it at all. Hurricane is another one more trainers would typically exchange brave bird for given the negative effectives that come with using the attack, but brave bird’s overall damage is too hard to give up.

Overall, Talonflame is a decent choice, and you’ll need to cover its weaknesses during a battle. So long as you have Pokémon who can protect it from Electric, Rock, and Water-type attacks, you should do fine. It’s best moveset will be using fire spin for its fast move, and then brave bird and flame charge for its charge moves.
